Bertie County, "the poorest county in North Carolina," was featured on a story on NPR this morning. Glenmary Missioners have been serving in Bertie County since 2004. This story focuses on the current presidential race but it highlights why there is so much need in Mission Land USA.
Like most of Glenmary Missions, Bertie County does not have a church building yet. They currently celebrate Sunday Mass in the local Methodist Church and daily mass is at the "house-church" pictured below.
