We pray for eternal rest for our Glenmary brother who passed away this morning. Fr. Gus Guppenberger would have turned 82 years old at the end of this month. Fr. Gus professed his First Oath as a Glenmary Missioner on May 25th, 1957. During his 59 years as a Glenmary Missioner he served in the missions of Dahlonega, GA, Statesboro, GA, Franklin, KY, Andrew, NC and Waynesboro, GA.For many years Fr. Gus served Glenmary by helping the Development office with their annual Summer Mission Appeals around the country. I believe that Fr. Gus still holds the record for the most mission appeals given by a Glenmarian. He loved to travel which he did a lot of with his brother and may have a record for the most countries any Glenmarian has visited.
