The Diocese of Knoxville, Tennessee has announced that they nominated the Glenmary Missioners serving in their diocese for the 2015 Lumen Christi Award.
"Every year, Catholic Extension's Lumen Christi Award honors an individual or group working in one of America's mission dioceses who demonstrates how the power of faith can transform lives and communities. Lumen Christi recipients are the hidden heroes in our midst. They bring light and hope to the forgotten corners of our country and inspire those around them to be the 'Light of Christ' as well."
In this short video, the diocese shares why they have nominated the Glenmary missioners. I particularly like Bishop Richard Stika's comments about the missions because he says, "The Glenmarians have been so wonderful in terms of establishing a place where people can feel welcome to come into the church."
