A number of years ago I lived in Canton, MS for a summer. During those few months I assisted a group forming a Worker Justice Center. Working with another student, Darrel and I attempted to reach out to as many people in the area in order to find out what the needs of the folks were at that time. A documentary film called Mississippi Chicken which highlights some of the exploitation of immigrant workers and exposes some of the existing race issues happened to be filmed that summer. I was not the star in the film but I did happen to get a few small parts.
This morning I am watching the whole movie with the Glenmary Novices as part of their preparation before they are sent out on a four month mission assignment.
