Glenmary Oath Prayer

The following prayer can be offered for those men who are preparing to profess their Oath with Glenmary Home Missioners. Glenmary has two seminarians who will renew their Oath in May and three novices who will profess their First Oath in June.

Glenmary Prayer for Those Preparing for Oath

Adapted from the Glenmary oath ceremony

God, our Father, source of all goodness and love, you have called Charles, Richard, Jose Carlos, Samuel & Kenneth to follow you as a Glenmary Missioners. They are resolved to dedicate themselves to you by making a profession to the evangelical councils in the presence of your Church. Look upon these servants of yours who wish to confirm their offering of themselves to you.

Mercifully grant that the grace of Baptism, which they wish to strengthen with new bonds, may work its full effect in them, so that they may offer you praise and spread Christ’s Kingdom with apostolic zeal. Grant that their manner of life may bring glory to your name and further your loving plan of redemption.

As the years pass by, help them to enter more deeply into the mystery of the Church and to dedicate themselves more generously to the good of all people. Fill the hearts of our brothers with the virtues necessary to persevere faithfully in the apostolate and in our way of life to the end of their journey of faith, which they have begun with such joy.

Through the intercession of Blessed Mary, your handmaid, pour forth your blessings in abundance on these servants of yours, so that by your continued help they may fulfill the oath your love has inspired them to profess.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen
