Mission Experience

Many times on this blog I have written about the Come & See mission weekends that we at the Glenmary Vocation team host throughout the year. The weekends serve as a good introduction to who we are, where we serve and allow someone discerning their call to get a broad overview of Glenmary's mission ministry. After the weekend experience, the next step would be to stay in a mission for a longer period in order to experience the rhythm of life in a Glenmary mission.  Currently two men are doing just that. Angel Barocio is serving in the missions of Lafayette, TN and Scottsville, KY. Gilbert Escalier is serving in the missions in Windsor and Plymouth, NC. Their Mission experience involves living with Glenmary priests and brothers and working in a mission setting. Therefore they have a great opportunity to learn more about Glenmary by participating in the experience of community life with Glenmarians, and sharing in the day-to-day ministry in the mission. An extended mission experience of a week or more is an excellent way for someone discerning their call to come and see if this might be where God is calling them to serve.
