Saint Kateri Tekakwitha

Every morning Glenmarians gather to pray in Our Lady of the Fields Chapel at our National Headquarters in Cincinnati. Part of our morning prayer is a litany of saints. Today we have a new saint in Glenmary's litany of saints, Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, AKA, Lily of the Mohawks. Kateri Tekakwitha was a Native American Mohawk woman who was born in 1656. Pope John Paul II beatified Kateri in 1980 and this morning Pope Benedict XVI celebrated a Mass in Rome naming her a saint.
We give thanks for the early North American missioners who brought the Catholic Church's presence to this part of the world and ask for Saint Kateri's intercession to help us continue the mission effort of carrying the Gospel message to those places in the USA where there is still so much need and where Glenmary continues to serve.
